I was so excited when I saw that The Fever Code was out. My kids and I are huge fans of the Maze Runner Series (they are ages 14 and 12 now), that we all couldn't wait to read it. I am the faster reader, so I read it first. This is a great addition to the Maze Runner Series. I felt that the series was not complete, unanswered questions, so I was hoping that this book would help fill in the gaps. I can honestly say that this book was amazing. I couldn't put it down, the book flows very quickly. If you have read the Maze Runner Series, then you will want to read the Fever Code also. For instance, if you were like me, and wondered how Thomas reacted differently to those in the maze (friends right away with Chuck, but didn't get along with Gally), then The Fever Code will fill in those missing links. It is a great addition to the series, and for me, it made the series complete. Love this series!Spoiler Alert: The book starts off with the story of Newt, and how he was taken to the maze, even though he was not immune to the flare. The next chapter, and from then on, focuses on Thomas's story and point of view. I wish that there would have been more stories of they other boys, like Alby, Minho, and Chuck. I think this would have added to the book. I did notice was discrepancy in this book, compared to the first book. In the Fever Code, it listed 40 members going to the maze at once, including Alby, Minho, and Newt, but this is not the same as mentioned in the original Maze Runner. I was disappointed about this, but it might not be that noticeable for others. I will discuss it with my kids, after they finish reading the book, to see if they noticed any discrepancies themselves, or if I'm making a big deal out of something small. This book helps show Thomas's personality, which helps to develop him into the leader that he shows in the other books. I have to admit, the ending caught me off guard. I was a huge fan of Teresa, always rooting for her, in the other books. After reading this ending, I was very disappointed in her.

This is the last book in the series-book five. In order for the book to make sense, the trilogy has to be read and then The Kill Order before The Fever Code. This book explains so much, is suspenseful, and has a huge twist. This was the best book I ever read and finished it in two days. Once done with The Maze Runner series, I recommend checking out the two other series by James Dashner. The one I'm reading now is called The Eye of Minds. Another series he wrote starts with the book The 13th Reality. Happy reading!

This was such a great read; satisfying and fun. I finished it all in one sitting and is the perfect bridge between the first prequel and the first book: The Maze Runner. I enjoyed the twists and turns and plot development so much... it's made me want to go back and start at the chronological beginning to get the complete picture (I finished all of the other books years ago).

This is a great conclusion to the series. It answers so many questions. Must read for fans of the Maze Runner!

The Fever Code by James DashnerWow, just a horribly tragic story. Terrifically told, this additional prequel to the Maze Runner series is compelling. I have not read the series previously, so I am looking forward to getting into the Maze itself. I have not been able to unravel all of the lies and misdirections, so I only hope that Dashner has done it for me. I enjoyed this very much.

James Dashner is SUCH a wonderful author. There have been many times a prequel has fallen short of my expectations- they tend to be less interesting and more "telling than showing" in nature. However, this was amazing. Dashner could have easily made this the first book in the series (rather than a prequel) and maintained his following for the rest of the series. It was exciting, answered quite a few questions, and you just learn so much about the process of the Maze being created and where exactly Thomas and Teresa's heads were at throughout the whole process. There's just soooo much you learn about all these characters and seeing the beginning of the maze from another perspective is amazing. Overall, I totally enjoyed it and would highly recommend!

I definitely recommend reading this book AFTER the rest of the series. It will spoil some things if you read it as a prequel. As soon as I picked up the series, I was hooked. It's a very nice read that wasn't too easy or confusing to follow. This book tied loose ends, and it was nice reading it afterwards to look back and be like "Oh! That did happen!". I would start with Kill Order and work your way through the series, ending with this book.

The first 3 Maze Runners were amazing, but the 4th and 5th books were dreadful. There were times where i had no idea what was going on in the book. I found myself struggling to attempt to finish chapters and at times i had to reread parts. I dont even fully get what the story was supposed to be about! Sad compared to his first few books, it seems like this one was written just to make the extra buck.

I expected each of the twelve months to have a picture of a treehouse, and perhaps some text about each treehouse. It has exactly that, and it also has a second, smaller picture of each treehouse with the text. This second picture is usually an interior, but is sometimes a second exterior from a second angle, or a close-up of some particular feature. There are also small calendars for the last four months of 2010 (all four months on one page), and a treehouse and text for that too (no second picture for this one, though).This calendar is larger than the one (a dragon calendar) I had for 2010. I had to move my nail higher up on the wall. The pictures are clear and really show off the trees and the houses in them.The only thing that could make it better is including the first two or four months of 2012, which it doesn't do. Then again, I didn't expect it to, and it has exceeded my expectations already.

A good friend of mine gave sent me a Treehouses of the World calendar, years ago. They're magical, beautiful homes built up in the canopy's of trees. I've enjoyed every new calender. I only look at the current month so that next months Treehouse, remains a mystery til then! You should check out their book Treehouses of the World, it's another great gift~

Love this book and its illustrations but I didn't give it a five because it missed the obvious inclusion: how to pronounce all the lovely words in it. A phoenic explanation would go far to improve this. The words chosen are great, the illustrations are cute but aside from spending a long time on google trying to find the pronunciation it's a bit useless to try and learn how to use the words.

A charming and lovely book... Beautifully illustrated with contents well worth the exploration, either in one sitting or when the mood suits. I hope the author/illustrator feel inspired to create another volume.

If you love words as much as I do, you're really going to enjoy Other-Wordly. It is filled with words from not only English but other languages and cultures to expand your vocabulary and to make you realize that, yes, there is a word for that. Like "komorebi", the Japanese word for the sunlight that filters through the leaves of the trees, or "tartle", a Scots word that means to hesitate while introducing or meeting someone because you've forgotten their name.Now that I think of it, this is the type of beautifully illustrated little book that would make the perfect gift for other language lovers. My only greedy little complaint? It's too short!

If you love words, you'll love this book. Even if only partially into words, but appreciate drawings, you'll probably still enjoy this. I bought one as a gift for each of the ladies in my Scrabble club. We all enjoyed it -- had to read through it together before we could even start our game!! The only thing that could make it better was pronunciations.

Delightful illustrations, but I was hoping for many more words. I was thinking it might be like a brief dictionary or thesaurus, but it more a picture book with 2 or three words/definitions on each page. A pronunciation key would have been nice as well.

Gorgeous little book with truly lovely illustrations. Smaller than I expected (less than A5, more than A6 if you're familiar with those) but sweet to stick into your bag or have on a nightstand. Definitely not large enough for a coffee table book, although it's beautiful enough to serve as one if it were larger.

Good book, but very disappointed there was no pronunciation guide! If you're going to write a book on unusual words, then it seems almost a requirement you provide this. This lowered the rating considering the words presented originate from many different languages and need this guide for someone not familiar with all these languages.

It's a small book that gives an overall general look at the big differences Jehovah Witnesses have with Christianity. The book brings their history and references from their publications, it is fair in showing that some of the doctrines of their roots are not followed anymore, and gives biblical reference where there steer off. I have to admit, he could have made a stronger case because I see a couple of holes like lack of extensive Greek definition and could have looked at Jewish tradition to defend practices that Christians do. I do see this book as a quick guide that can open your mind to search on your own, which I think it's good since you will not rely on an author for everything.I'll keep looking back to it and help me understand their view, my faith, and the history of God in this world.

This is a tour de force for those interested in the real history of this disturbing sect. The author uses the Witnesses's own literature, takes us into the insights of their beginnings and shows how this organization has got it all wrong. In the mix Mr. Evert provides you with the tools necessary to respond and evangelize the Witnesses. The book is a solid punch into an organization that would make illogical claims, is willing to stray you from your salvation and does so excellently. If you have a family member, or know someone who is considering this false path to salvation, this is the book to read an share.

I wasn't aware this had a Catholic flavor but that really isn't meant as a negative comment because it covers the subject very well .

Wow, what a way to learn your faith more but by learning what other people believe. I took it for granted some of the Catholic teachings till I looked at the Jehovah's beliefs.

I got a much better understanding of the Jehovah witnesses and their inaccurate Bible translation. There were many good ideas for discussion with JW members who come door to door.

In this excellent book, Chelsea shares about learning at age 19 that she could could never carry the children she longed to mother. She writes deeply and personally of walking the path of childlessness, surrendering one of her deepest dreams.I am a mom myself, so I can't identify with the specific details of Chelsea's journey with childlessness. I can, however, unreservedly recommend "Longing for Motherhood," not only to those who, like Chelsea, are faced with childlessness but also to those of us who love the many dear souls walking the road of infertility, miscarriage, or loss.Far from offering nice platitudes or simple solutions for healing, Chelsea details her raw and honest struggle with barrenness. In reading her words, I have been struck by how intentionally, and at times desperately, Chelsea has fought to know and delight in her God despite a severe test of faith.In so doing, Chelsea offers wise counsel not only for the childless, but also for all who walk through dark valleys.

This is an important book addressing the pain and suffering as the result of being unable to bear children. Chelsea Sololik found out at the age of nineteen that she would be unable to bear children. Her journey through the grief and suffering as a result of that condition is at times painfully honest. She openly shares her feelings as she processes what that means as she gives up the desire of bearing her own children.She offers practical advice to individuals who are experiencing the same pain she has, those who are involved with someone dealing with infertility and finally how the church can minister to those who are suffering.This book also explores how to grieve unfulfilled desires; how to trust God in the seasons of sorrow; how to fight for and hold on to hope and finally how to find purpose when a traditional mothering role is not an option.I highly recommend this book to anyone struggling with the issue of bearing their own children. Author Chelsea Patterson Sobolik writes with incredible honesty, while recognizing God’s faithfulness in the midst of hardship. I reread several portions of Longing for Motherhood, realizing that Sobolik’s words resonated deeply with me. I also read several sections out loud to family members, because Sobolik put words to many of the emotions I felt but struggled to describe.I particularly appreciated how Sobolik incorporates Scripture frequently throughout Longing for Motherhood. She allows for honest, real grieving while depicting a balance between grief and hope. She doesn’t give pat answers, and doesn’t shy away from strong emotions and diffulct questions. Grief, whether due to childlessness or another loss, can be cyclical at times. Longing for Motherhood is a worthy companion throughout the grief process.Sobolik also challenges readers to consider how to use motherly traits to minister to others in various circumstances, even in the absence of biological children. Finally, towards the end of Longing for Motherhood, Sobolik turns her writing towards church communities.
