This is the third and final book in the Nameless City series. I have absolutely loved this series; it’s such a well done graphic novel series and an intricate fantasy. I love the world-building, the politics, the characters, and the story here.Erzi has taken control of the Nameless City and is threatening use a horrible weapon on the city to end the war once and for all. Rat and Kai must steal the weapon and find a way to finally bring peace to the Nameless City. This graphic novel is incredibly well put together. The illustration is very well done, full of great detail and color and very easy to follow. The world-building was amazing and I loved all of the characters. Kai’s mom finally joins the story in a big way and I really enjoyed learning more about her.I loved the way everything was wrapped up. This was just an excellent conclusion to an amazing fantasy graphic novel series.Overall I highly recommend this whole series. I loved pretty much everything about it. My whole family read this graphic novel series (husband and 11 yr old son) and they all really enjoyed it. I am really looking forward to seeing what Hicks will work on next!

I love Faith Erin Hicks’s artwork and read most of her books, and was especially interested in this conclusion to a series I’ve been keeping up with. The action/fight scenes in this book are superb, and it’s nice to see some great, powerful women characters lead the story. The main plot is a tiny bit hard to follow as I at first couldn’t figure out what was going on with the whole Napatha thing, and I was worried there were things I wasn’t remembering from the previous books. Overall a solid, but not exceptional, series.

Faith Erin Hicks has finished this series in spectacular fashion - Great, tight plot; believable, likable characters; and gorgeous artwork. Her pages are both lush and still economical, nothing is wasteful! I especially like how the ending could preview a future story for Rat and Kaidu, something I wouldn't mind reading! I guess my only question would be this: Whatever happened to the two intrepid travelers who prologued the first two books?

Fun characters, good artwork, and a good story which ends believably! In general, graphic novels in the YA class are better than adult oriented ones, and this is no exception. I love the characters in the book, the story, and the awesome medieval Asian style city. Probably the best thought out graphic novel I've read in months

This was a wonderfully crafted tale of duty, love, and acceptance. Not necessarily in that order. The characters are made with real care and art is amazing. I recommend this to any readers

Very nice

*The Divided Earth is the final book in Hicks' Nameless City trilogy which begins with The Nameless City and continues in The Stone Heart. This review contains spoilers for book one.*The Nameless City is once again at the center of a conflict. Erzi, now General of All Blades, holds the city even as forces forces from his own ranks try to rally the Yisun to unite and overthrow him. The city's residents, the "Named," remain are caught in the middle. What the invading forces don't know is that Erzi is determined to hold the city at any cost--even if it means destroying it. Desperate to prevent further bloodshed, Rat and Kaidu must join forces again to try and steal back the formula for deadly napatha before Erzi can use it to destroy everything they've come to love within the city walls in The Divided Earth (2018) by Faith Erin Hicks. The Divided Earth is the final book in Hicks' Nameless City trilogy which begins with The Nameless City and continues in The Stone Heart. After learning the city inside out and coming to love it as his own, Kaidu has to risk everything to help Rat save it. As forces approach the city Hicks expands the world of this series introducing new characters and further situating the Nameless City in a larger world. While some of the character motivations remain thin, particularly in the case of the villains, this series is still utterly entertaining. Hicks' full-color artwork is used to especially good effect in this installment that is filled with high speed chases and fight sequences. The Divided Earth is a satisfying conclusion to a gripping, action-filled series. Recommended.
